A week of cinema: Golden Apricot Film Festival launches tomorrow

The 9th annual Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival launches tomorrow, July 8 and will run until July 15. The festival’s annual theme is Crossroads of Cultures and Civilizations.

Iternationally acclaimed director Atom Egoyan (Canada) is President of the Festival and noted director Harutyun Khachatryan (Armenia) is the General Director.

The festival includes 2 main competition sections: International Competition (Feature, Documentary, Short) and Armenian Panorama National Competition. Other festival sections are Cinema in Dialogue Regional Competition, Retrospectives, Yerevan Premieres, Filmschool Program.

This year festival’s program will feature 170 full-length, short, feature and documentary films. Of them 65 are included in the competition sections. 12 movies will be screened in the feature films nomination. The festival will also feature 12 documentaries. Armenian Panorama section includes 6 full-length feature, 5 short feature and 15 documentary films. 39 films have been submitted for “Koriz” nomination.
