BIRD FLU DOES NOT THREAT ARMENIA
Recently new incidents of bird flu were found in Russia. Gevorg Tovmasyan, the deputy director of Agriculture Ministry foodstuff security and cattle-breeding state department said that the import of poultry from Russia is forbidden, thus the bird flu is not a treat for Armenia.
“Their government informed other countries that bird flu cases were found in Russia, in order the foreign citizens do not use poultry,” said G. Tovmasyan.
We were informed from the Agriculture Ministry that poultry is forbidden to import from the following countries: Poland, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Turkey, Southern Africa, China Singshua state, Korea, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Greta Britain, and Afghanistan. There is permission to import poultry from the USA, Canada, Germany, France, and Brazil.
The officials said that there is a strict supervision carried out on borders, and if the foodstuff arrives from any of the forbidden countries listed they are being sent back to the origin country.
