EU may offer associate membership to Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan in the upcoming future: F. Mikloško

The former Speaker of Slovakia’s Parliament František Mikloško offered an alternative solution for Nagorno-Karabakh settlement at a meeting with reporters in Yerevan Tuesday.

“To us, NKR conflict is what should be solved by Europe and the EU,” F. Mikloško said.

He added that Karabakh dispute is a vital issue for Europe.

“The future of the whole Europe is being discussed in Nagorno-Karabakh today. I can compare Europe with a huge strong chain, though, the chain can be strong if its all links are equally strong and there is no weak link,” Mikloško said.

According to him, Europe has a weak link, the one being the Nagorno-Karabakh sensitive issue. “Surely, conflict or war cannot be solution.”

As Mikloško said, Benelux historical version should be a key for peace in the South Caucasus. This is a confederation with the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg. Once they adopted the European integration.

“The EU may offer associate membership to Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan in the upcoming future,” Mikloško said.

Thus, the EU will promote the rapid development of the three countries and will prepare them as future candidates for EU membership.

“We greatly need Azerbaijan’s ears comprehend this as well,” he highlighted.
