Is Azerbaijan authorized to make statements on behalf of Iran?
On May 26 the official web-site of the Iranian Foreign Ministry published a message about the Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary elections. The message runs as follows:
“In response to the question on Iran’s view over holding parliamentary elections in Nagorno-Karabakh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not officially recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary elections.”
Mehmanparast, at the same time refuted the information over participation of the Iranian observers in the elections: “No one from Iran participated in the Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary elections as observer”.
Where the sneer lies here? It is remarkable that official “IRNA” as well as “FarsNews” and “MehrNews” partially official news agencies presented the information similarly, without additions.
While, the Azerbaijani “APA” news agency, spreading false information, as if citing “IRNA” distorted the words of the representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry and wilfully presented a few pro-Azerbaijani propagating expressions on behalf of the Iranian authorities.
With this working style the Azerbaijani side may also state on behalf of the Iranian authorities that Iran is gradually starting recognizing the territorial integrity and independence of northern and southern Azerbaijans.
Thus, the Iranian side must not make indifferent appearance in dissemination of such disinformation.
