Serj Tankian in Yerevan on single concert: musician to visit Genocide Memorial
“I have never sat down to decide what my next song should be about, music must come from inside, irrespective of which nation and continent you represent,” American-Armenian rock musician Serj Tankian told reporters in Yerevan today. The response came after Tankian was asked whether he is not going to write a song on Karabakh, taking into consideration his well-known rock actions directed to the recognition of the Genocide, as well as his composition on the Armenian Genocide.
In the frames of his Armenia visit, Serj Tankian is intent to visit the Genocide memorial in Tsitsernakaberd. He even kidded saying: "The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged me to visit the Memorial not as a musician, but as a human-being."
Then he went it serious noting he must visit Tsitsernakaberd, especially that he has a special mission-request from his German friends to make personal notes.
As regards his participation in the upcoming “Rock against Genocide” international festival to be held in Armenia, Serj Tankian said: “It’s a good idea, but at the moment I cant say if I’ll participate or not.”
Serj Tankian will perform a single concert in Yerevan today.
