PACE reestablished sub-committee on NK issue: Armenian delegation against that initiative
Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Bureau adopted a decision today to reestablish the activities of the sub-committee on Karabakh, PACE delegate Naira Zohrabyan told Panorama.am from Strasbourg. Ms. Zohrabyan said that only Armenian delegation voted against that initiative.
Catalonian deputy Jordi Xuclà i Costa has been appointed as the Chairman of the sub-committee.
“Chavushoglu managed to implement one of the vital issues for him reestablishing the sub-committee’s activities,” Naira Zohrabyan said adding that Armenian delegates have addressed letters to the Bureau members explaining the unacceptability of that sub-committee’s activities.
“We’ve told them that Armenian delegation finds it inexpedient to attend the sub-committee’s activities,” Armenian delegate said.
Zohrabyan said that a procedural infringement occurred: “We asked the Bureau secretariat to hand the letter to the Bureau members, in order they were introduced to our explanations, but the secretariat didn’t implement our recommendation,” Zohrabyan said.
She said the Chairman of Armenian delegation Davit Harutyunyan released a speech to Bureau session introducing the opinion of Armenian delegation and why we are against that process which can directly obstruct OSCE MG activities.
Ms. Zohrabyan says as soon as the delegation is back from Strasbourg, a panel discussion will be carried out with the authorities and statement will be made.
