Iranian website: Azeri media distort Iranian geographical names
Azeri media use the name “Arabian Gulf” instead of “Persian Gulf,” Iranian website Arannews.ir said in an article.
The author of the article says that Azeri media (Expess, Baku Khabar, APA) used the name “Arabian Gulf” instead of “Persian Gulf” while reporting on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s viewpoint about Persian Gulf security.
“In addition to anti-Iranian propaganda, Azeri media also distort Iranian geographical names,” said the Iranian website.
We will mention that in official UN records this geographical name is mentioned as “Persian Gulf,” but the Arab countries of the region – UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain - as well as several leading international media refer to it as “Arabian Gulf,” which is disliked by Iranian authorities.
