On 19 October, immediately after the confirmation of Plenum of the Constitutional Court of the results of the presidential elections held in Azerbaijan on October 9, 2013, Ilham Aliyev, who won the elections, took the oath, Azerbaijani information agency "Turan" reports.

Thus, Ilham Aliyev came to the third term as the head of Azerbaijan.

According to the agency, this is the first oath, that Ilham Aliyev gave after making changes and amendments in the Constitution of Azerbaijan at referendum held on March 2009, during which the restrictions, on one person staying in office for more than two consecutive terms, were changed.

According to Article 103 of the Azerbaijani Constitution, the person elected as President should take the oath within three days after the announcement of the election results.

"Turan" reminds that during the presidential elections held on October 15, in 2003 Ilham Aliyev received more than 76% of the vote, and was elected as the president of Azerbaijan. On October 24 of the same year, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the election. Ilham Aliyev sworn in after the Plenum of the Constitutional Court, in 7 days, i.e. on October 31, in 2003.

In the presidential elections of 2008, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the election on October 22, stating that Ilham Aliyev had won 88.73% of votes. Two days after the adoption of the election results by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court, that is on October 24, in 2008, Ilham Aliyev took the oath.

The agency also reports that the U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar was not invited to the inauguration ceremony of President Ilham Aliyev. "We guess, that the representatives of other diplomatic missions were not invited too," said the press service of the Embassy of the USA. It says that even the former president Ayaz Mutalibov was not invited to the event.

Azerbaijan held presidential elections on October 9, where Ilham ALiyev took a victory with 84,58% votes.
