Igor Popov: All issues are coordinated, there are only some disagreements
The viewpoints of Azerbaijan’s and Armenia’s Defense Ministers on the situation at the Line of Contact are different, Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov told reporters after meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan.
“Nevertheless, we are working in that direction,” he said.
Popov noted that casualties on either side are a great loss, and that they damage the peace process. “We hope the ceasefire will be maintained, and we have called Azerbaijan to observe the ceasefire. We have discussed this issue with Armenia’s Defense Minister, and will also discuss it with Armenia’s President,” he said.
The Russian Co-Chair also said that during the meetings they plan to discuss issues related to the basic principles of the negotiations and propose the variants discussed with the Foreign Ministers in Paris.
“The Paris meeting was rather constructive. Now, all issues are coordinated, there are only some disagreements and we will continue to work on them,” Popov said.
