Greek President satisfied with current level of Armenian-Greek relations
We agreed with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan that Armenia and Greece have always had high-level cooperation, and we confirmed with satisfaction that the bilateral cooperation can be expanded, visiting Greek President Karolos Papoulias told reporters following his meeting with Serzh Sargsyan at the presidential residence.
Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mr Papoulias said that Serzh Sargsyan briefed him on the latest developments in the conflict settlement process and he, for his part, presented the details of the Cyprus problem, noting that it has reached critical point and a practical and functional resolution is needed.
The Greek leader said he also addressed the Ukrainian crisis during the meeting with President Sargsyan. Karolos Papoulias said that they expressed hope that the ceasefire will start a political process in Ukraine.
The President of Greece voiced concern about the situation in Syria and Iraq and in the Middle East in general. “I expressed serious concern about the safety of the Christian population in the Middle East,” Mr Papoulias said.
At the conclusion of his speech, he once again thanked Serzh Sargsyan for a warm reception.
