Hurriyet: Erdogan hints Armenians may be expelled from Turkey, again
“It’s hard for me to understand why we, as a nation and our media are standing on defensive grounds. Personally speaking, as the President of the republic, I don’t have any reasons to be on defensive. It is out of the question for there to a stain, a shadow called 'genocide' on Turkey," President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said en route to Kazakhstan, according to Ermenihaber.am with wires to Turkish Hurriyet daily
Referring to the resolutions adopted and statements made in various countries and in the European Parliament, Erdogan declined the possibility that Turkey may accept any responsibility for any such crime. “Whatever decision they may take, it would go in one ear and out the other. It is impossible for Turkey to affirm such a crime,” Erdogan told a news conference at Ankara airport before departing on an official visit to Kazakhstan.
Erdogan also reminded of around 100,000 Armenians that still reside in Turkey including those who are Turkish citizens and those who are not and they are never mistreated, according to the Turkish President.
“Both citizens and non-citizen Armenians are enjoying the opportunities of our country. We could have deported them, but we didn't," Erdogan said.
