A Ghukasyan highlights Armenia’s achievements from cooperation with BSEC
The 39th plenary session of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Parliamentary Assembly (PA) was held in Armenia on May 22-24. Panorama.am talked with BSEC PA deputy chairman, MP Areg Ghukasyan.
-Mister Ghukasyan what important provisions would you underline from the BSEC PA session?
Three different issues were discussed during the session. First, it was election of deputy secretary of the commission representing Russia, second group of issues were agenda changes, and finally issued discussed in different commissions were approved.
- Was Armenia’s presidency in BSEC PA over?
Yes, Armenia handed BSEC PA presidency to Azerbaijan to chair the organization for 6 months.
Since I’m not going to be a member of the newly formed parliament and I will not participate in the assembly’s sessions, a Turkish representative and I were awarded for contribution in the PA.
- What does cooperation with BSEC give Armenia?
First of all it is a platform where representatives of our region meet and hold discussions of various issues. I think it is first of all an organization for economic cooperation, since mainly economic issues are being discusses here.
This organization is important for direct communication with Azerbaijan and Turkey. Those meetings and discussions greatly advance our relations.
