Islamic Party of Azerbaijan considers unacceptable celebrations of New Year and March 8
“Leadership of the Islamic party of Azerbaijan intends to make an appeal to the Caucasus Muslim Board with a letter where he would state about the inadmissibility of New Year celebrations in Azerbaijan. It is unacceptable as the celebration days coincide with the days when Prophet of Islam and Imam Hussein died,” reports Azerbaijani news portal “Haqqin.az”.
As it is stated in the article, the deputy chairman of IPA Akif Heydarli urged the Azerbaijani government this year not to be indifferent towards 31st of December.
“Generally, we are not against celebrations, but if the day of the holiday coincides with the day of mourning, death of dear prophet, it is not proper for us, Muslims to hold a celebration. If Prophet Isa would have been alive, would he agree to celebrate holiday on the day of Prophet Islam death,” the deputy of IPA said.
Akif Heydarli also thinks that March 8 as well has nothing to do with the Azerbaijanis and Azerbaijani women; however it is becoming more common with every year.
