Iranian vice-President demands UNESCO to prevent anti-cultural activities of Azerbaijan
“Iran has sent address of complain to UNESCO on Azerbaijan’s activities in connection with the heritage of Nizam Gyanjavi,” the official site of IRI cultural heritage and tourism organization reads.
According to the message, the Iranian vice-President, head of the organization of Cultural heritage and tourism Mohammad Ali Najafi has expressed his dissatisfaction in the letter written to the General Secretary of UNESCO Irina Bokova in connection with the Azerbaijani initiative of changing the writings on the grave of Nizami Gyanjavi into Azerbaijani. He has demanded that UNESCO to undertake urgent steps in order to prevent the anti-cultural activities of Azerbaijan and to restore the traceries.
There are many disagreements between the Iranian and Azerbaijani relations recently. According to Iranian side, Azerbaijan presents not only the poet Nizami Gyanjavi as an Azerbaijani but also the musical instruments as well as polo sport game. All these cause dissatisfaction among the Iranian authorities and artists.
