Tribute to memory of Sumgait victims paid in Kuwait, Iraq and Argentina
By the organization of RA Embassy in Kuwait and the Hay Dat commission an evening was organized on the 7th of March dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Sumgait events. The evening was attended by representatives of many community structures and diplomatic staff, as well as foreign guests.
At the beginning of the event the attendees paid tribute to the innocent victims with a minute of silence after which the Chairman of Kuwait Hay Dat commission Tigran Bayatyan made a speech on Sumgait massacres. The documentary which was shown parallel to the speech was about the evidences of the witnesses.
As the RA MFA reports the Armenian Ambassador to Kuwait Fadey Charchoghlyan spoke about the Sumgait massacre and the support of Azerbaijani authorities to those massacres. He has stretched parallels with the Budapest case and has noted that Azerbaijan continues the same policy in the NKR conflict settlement.
At the end of the meeting Bishop Ter Shahe Panosyan has called on making the crime of Sumgait international.
Iraq
On March 8 Liturgy has been served in Armenian Apostolic St. Grigor Lusavorich church in Baghdad which has been dedicated to Sumgait massacre victims.
After the liturgy the wreath on behalf of Armenian embassy in Iraq and Iraqi – Armenian organizations was laid at the cross stone in the churchyard.
Then at the Gyulbenkian hall of the National College the participants have paid tribute to victims of Sumgait, Baku and Gandza massacres with a minute of silence.
Argentina
On March 10 in St. Grigor Lusavorich Church in Buenos Aires a liturgy was served dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Sumgait massacre. Vahagn Melikyan, embassy staff, representatives of Argentinian – Armenian communities, organizations, unions, as well as representatives of Arab, Chilean, Arabic and Ukrainian communities.
The representative of Central Administration of the Armenian Apostolic Church V. Manukyan made a speech. He has condemned the Sumgait massacre and has called on the present to have joint and united struggle for excluding such tragic things in the future.
