Commenting on Azerbaijan Defense Ministry’s recent statements that it would not comment anything for the outlets, which circulate the publications of their Armenian colleagues, the well-known Azerbaijani journalist Chingiz Sultansoy told Moderator.az that such a stance demonstrates the weakness of the Ministry.

It is necessary to run serious and meaningful information in order to conduct the current information war correctly, the journalist told Moderator.az regretting that the press service of the Defense Ministry of the AR is not able to cope with that challenge properly.

“The pity is that people do not trust in the information provided by our Defense Ministry. The reason is that the negative incidents in the army are often hidden or false information is provided. As a result, people lose their trust for the Defense Ministry,” Chingiz Sultansoy said.

The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan frequently accuses the journalists of that, which is an absolutely wrong approach, he added.

“I myself do not believe that the journalists covering the negative incidents in the army are to be blamed in those cases rather than the officers and officials, who are responsible for the soldiers’ non-combat deaths,” Sultansoy stressed.

Elkhan Mehdiyev, an Azerbaijani political columnist, told Moderator.az that “Azerbaijan lags behind Armenia in the information war.” He said the world hears the voice of the Armenians more, and the international community gets most of the information from the Armenian media.

On 30 September 2015, the minister of defense of Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Levon Mnatsakanyan, said that the NKR Defense Army completely controls the situation on the line of contact and conducts punitive operations in response to Azerbaijan’s aggression. As a result, Azerbaijan had 11-12 militaries killed, names verified by the Defense Army, and 11-12 more, who are currently being identified. In addition, there are currently 60-80 injured militaries in hospitals in Azerbaijan. According to the information of the NKR Defense Ministry, the adversary side also suffered significant material losses because of the destruction of several military positions and barracks with defense technology.
