Armenia outdoes Azerbaijan by 20 positions in Human Capital Index 2015 of World Economic Forum
The World Economic Forum and the company Mercer have issued new Human Capital Index according to which Armenia is on the 43rd place outdoing Azerbaijan by 20 positions. Hence, Azerbaijan is on the 63rd place. The Index is posted on the website of World Economic Forum.
The Human Capital Report 2015, published every 2 years, covers 124 countries. The index indicates the countries that did best in a long-term perspective. The index is compiled to find out the capability of development for each of the countries.
The index measures the possibilities of human capital development for distinct age groups (15-65) based on over 50 criteria grouped into 4 main categories: education and professional training; health, physical and psychological welfare; economic participation and employment; as well as infrastructure, legal protection, social mobility.
In their study for 2015, the authors pursued an aim to measure countries’ ability “to nurture talent through education, skills development and deployment at all stages of the human life cycle,” as well as the present performance.
Finland tops the rankings of the Human Capital Index in 2015. Norway (2), Switzerland (3), Canada (4) and Japan (5) make up the rest of the top five. Mauritania, Chad and Yemen have scored the least. Russia is the CIS leader (26), Kazakhstan holds the 37th place and Ukraine – the 31st.
