IP telephony companies are going to file an application in court if until January 25 the Public Services Regulatory Committee does not meet their demands, Artiom Khachatryan, chairman of the organizational committee of IP telephony companies, told a press conference today.

In his words, the committee managed to set an administrative procedure and tackled the problems last September when similar situation was created. “The committee can do the same now,” Khachatryan said. The chairman believes the committee was forced to grant exclusive rights in IP telephony to ArmenTel. Asked who has forced the committee to take that decision, Khachatryan said it must be the ruling authorities taking into consideration the current level of Russian-Armenian relations.

Mushegh Militonyan, head of “Art Collection” company, assures that 500,000 people will suffer because of that decision. He also said Internet providers will also suffer because their main customers are IP companies. Militonyan noted that 35-40 percent of their income goes to ArmenTel budget. He believes ArmenTel is better off working with IP companies thaN cooperating with them as dealers. It is strange that ArmenTel CEO Oleg Blizniuk made the offer of cooperation after naming them thieves, he said.
