WE PLAN TO GROW IN ARMENIA
Our plan in Armenia is to grow, Chairman of the Board of Virage Logic Corporation Adam Kablanian says. “We are happy with the workforce here and effectiveness of the company”.
Expanding in Armenia is a strategic decision for Virage Logic, and personally for me this means spending more time in Armenia, Mr.Kablanian says.
“Armenian division has a few advantages compared to other regions: firstly, highly talented people, very well educated workforce, that can come up with new creative ideas; secondly - armenian workforce is very loyal, and the employee turnover is very low in Armenia. They believe in leadership of the company, they stick with the company through good times and bad times, which is not the case with other countries where we are present. Obviously, any company has good times and bad times, and we do value that Armenian team is so loyal about the company.”
These are the two main reasons we like to work in Armenia, and “this is not for nationalistic reasons at all, just because I am an Armenian. No, this is for business reasons, the management supports me, and I can state that the Armenian team has performed very well in the last few years. The management is pushing me to grow in Armenia, and for me this is a very good position to be in.”
In general Adam Kablanian believes the IT sector has a big potential in Armenia, but the problem is that in Armenia there is not enough high qualified graduates. Virage Logic is right now looking at new people, but universities are not producing this talent. “Fundamentally the problem is not there is no market for this, but it is the supply problem. Graduates are not enough for us to hire, this is really a problem and not only for Virage Logic, but also for the rest of the indutsry. The solution is rather painful; I think we shall have to wait until the whole education infrastructure changes, which requires money and time. So fundamentally this is where the biggest problem is – no people for the companies to hire.
Commenting on possible talks with the governments, Mr. Kablanian says he does not see that the government is interested in resolving these things. Upgrading of the education system requires a lot of resources, and there are no short-term solutions, the process requires money, researches, it is a long process until supply of raw talent that the companies can hire resumes.
