Police announced the results of the official investigation on “Pandok” restaurant owner Levon Gulyan’s death. L. Gulyan was invited to Police as a witness of murder of Stepan Vardanyan, committed on 9th of May 2007, at about 20:40, nearby the “Pandok” restaurant located at Manandyan 17 in Yerevan. According to Police, L.Gulyan came out of the restaurant as he heard the buzz and stepped up to the quarrelers. At that moment the shots broke out. The body of Stepan Vardanyan was found in about 1,5 meters to the restaurant entrance and at the body there was the of Gulyan’s cellular phone.

The Police also inform that at the Shengavit Police department Levon Gulyan had a conversation with the first deputy head of General Department of Criminal Investigations, Police General Hovhannes Tamamyan in presence of Prosecutor’s office and Police employees. Further Gulyan was invited to the Prosecutor’s office of Shengavit community, where he was questioned and afterwards released. The law enforcement representatives note that in the course of questioning Gulyan suppressed important facts concerning the case and identities of the murderers.

Following the strategy of preliminary investigation Levon Gulyan was invited to Criminal Investigations General Department on May 12th, being accompanied by the employees of the department of investigation of crimes against persons from the Shengavit police department to General department. At 14:30 after filling the necessary documentation at the entrance according to established procedure Levon Gulyan was convoyed to the office of the head of the first section of the second department of Criminal Investigations General Department.

After a half-an-hour conversation the section head went out of the room to report the results to the chiefs. Then Levon Gulyan asked the presenting employee of the first section of CICD second department for water and seizing the opportunity of the latter’s absence, at about 15:20, tried to escape from the window and fell down. While the ambulance was on its way the police employees tried to administer first aid to Gulyan but he was already dead because of physical injuries suffered.
The preliminary results of official investigation carried out by Police interior security department and Police headquarters founds that only the employees of the department of investigation of crimes against persons talked to Gulyan and contacted him during his stay in CICD. The results of the official investigation prescribed by the head of Police of Armenia state that the first deputy head of General Department of Criminal Investigations, Police General Hovhannes Tamamyan didn’t come to any contact with Levon Gulyan after 10 of May.

The preliminary investigation by Prosecutor’s Office of Yerevan and official investigation started by head of Police of Armenia on the criminal case of Levon Gulyan’s death continues. The case on Stepan Vardanyan’s death is carried out as well and efforts are made to find out the facts of the case and the persons guilty.
