Today, at 18:00, a group defending Alexander Arzumanyan's rights organized a picket action in front of the government building with a participation of some 100. The police did not allow one of group members, Karapet Rubinyan, to stick a poster with a sign “Freedom to Alexander Arzumanyan” on the government building wall. Rubinyan explained they do not intend to “overthrow the government by force.” “People are here to deliver a statement to Mr. prime minister signed by some 400 citizens of Armenia and foreign countries,” he said. Rubinyan also said the statement is posted in the Internet and it is open for people to join.

“If the prime minister, Serzh Sargsyan, will have the courage to receive Alexander Arzumanyan’s wife, me and may be one reporter and explain the illegalities, we will give the statement to him. Otherwise, we will give it to the most legitimate employees of this building – the police,” Rubinyan said.

Asked why they want to deliver the statement exactly to the prime minister, Rubinyan said: “S. Sargsyan has had close relations with some Levon Markos related to the case and it has been known even from the media that he has “misappropriated” a very immodest and good sum from that man,” he said.

Twenty minutes later an official went out of the government building. Introducing himself as Edgar Gevorgyan, he said the prime minister cannot meet with the group due to work. However, the prime minister has promised to receive Alexander Arzumanyan’s wife in a few days. The group gave the statement to the official.
