The delegation spearheaded by Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli that is in Yerevan on a two-day business visit will leave for Tbilisi today. Armenian arminegovernment information and public relations department informs that the 6th session of Armenian-Georgian economic cooperation decided to hold the 7th session in Tbilisi in 2008. The Armenian prime minister rendered his hope that the next session will be marked by a new, higher level of cooperation and mutual understanding.

Speaking about transport related issues and taking into consideration that most Armenian cargo passes through Poti and Batumi ports, the Armenian party suggested discussion requests to international financial institutions for funding the reconstruction of Yerevan-Gyumri-Bavra-Ninotsminda-Akhaktskha-Shuakhevi-Batumi highway. This will shorten the rout of transporting the cargo on both sides. Assignments were made to the Armenian ministry of transport and communication and Georgian economic development ministry to discuss the possibility of applying to international financial institutions on the issue. Also, assignments were made to improve the technical state of Airum station and increase its capacities in order to ensure smooth transportation of cargo between Georgia and Armenia.

In relation to Armenian-Georgian energy cooperation, it was mentioned that the Georgian party has started construction-reconstruction works on the territory of Georgia of an Armenian-Georgia high voltage energy line with the capacity of 400 Kwatt. The reconstruction works has been over on 75 km section of the line. The Georgian party informed that another 18 km section will be reconstructed by late 2008. The Armenian executive will soon adopt a decision on deadlines for the construction of the electric power line. Assignments were made to finish the construction and reconstruction in the course of 2008-2009.
