Armenian Men Smoke Less
According to the research conducted by World Bank the number of the smoking men decreased in Armenia by 3-4%. Whereas, the number of the smoking women rests the same compared with last year. Alezandr Bazarchyan, the head of antismoking project explained that men are more or less conscious of the harms smoking brings.
According to the leader of the project there is difference between the regions and the capital city, as for example the research results showed that 7-8% of the women of 55-64 age are found in Yerevan, whereas in the regions this figure is low 1-2%. There is a big difference even in the young people from 24-35 ages.
It is interesting to know that the third Wednesday in November is celebrated as anti cigarette day in the USA. In 2003 the Worldwide Health Organization passed antismoking convention, and Armenia is in the list of 90 countries.
