ARONYAN AND HAKOBYAN IN BEST 16 LIST
Levon Aronyan, Armenian chess Grand Master could not win his competitor Russian Dmitri Yakovenko in the Chess World Cup competition. The game ended in a draw.
Vladimir Hakobyan – Alexey Shirov meeting also ended in a draw. Note that in 4/2 meeting our Grand Master lost the game in his Spanish competitor, and Aronyan ended his part in a draw.
After this stage only 5 chess players won and the other 6 have to wait for the tiebreak. Totaly 128 chess players were participating in the competition but now only 16 continue the World Cup. Famous and titled chess players like Russian Alexandr Grishchuk, Azeri Shahriyar Mamedarov and Teymur Radjabov, UkrainianVasili Ivanchuk and Rustam Kasimdjanov were completely defeated and now do not participate in the competition.
Note: the competition takes place in knockout system which is confirmed by FIDE in the 78th meeting. The World Chess Cup competition takes place in Khanti-Mansiysk city, Russia. The competition started in November 24 and finished in December 19.
