COMMITTEE EVALUATING CINEMA AND THEATRE STRANGE
“It is only possible in Armenia that cinema and theatre have a single evaluating committee; it is obvious that they are two different branches of culture,” said Ruben Gevorgyanc, the director of the cinema industry union. He said that they applied from time immemorial to separate the prizes.
“Somebody passed a wrong law, and now we suffer from it. The committee members are strange, they do not have right to evaluate anything,” said Gevorgyanc. He refused to name anybody, but finally named Zaven Boyadjyan. “He is not a master of films; he takes some material from the internet and gives it to us. Master of films writes his own articles and makes analysis,” he said. He said that there are several specialists who worth being members of the committee like Garegin Zakoyan, David Muradyan and others. Note that it is the third year neither the cinema nor the theatre got any prizes.
Karen Aghamyan the president of the artists’ union said that the system of presenting the awards is wrong, as the directors of the union should name the participants to the committee members but sometimes an artist not nominated becomes the winner like Paravon Mirzoyan was. But Aghamyan said that he was worth being the winner.
