RUSSIA PARTICIPATES IN POWER STATION TENDER
Russia will probably take part in the tender of constructing new power station in Armenia. It is possible that the works will start in 2010-2011.
Today Sergey Kirienko, the president of Russian “Rusatom” held a meeting and said that the tender will be announced by the Armenian government. “We will take part in the tender and the chances we can win are not low,” he said. Kirienko added that, according to experts, the project will cost 1 billion dollars.
Note that during Viktor Zubkov’s labor visit to Armenia, both Prime Ministers announced the importance of improving the security system of Armenian power station and in general developing the energetic field in Armenia.
Kirienko said that the present power station will work till 2016. “We should carry out preparational activities in these two years, and the construction of the new power station should be started in 2010 ot at least in 2011,” he said.
Note that Armenian power station was exploited in 1976, it was closed in 1989. The second power block was opened in 1995 and according to the experts it can work till 2016.
