NO ORDER TO DISPERSE DEMONSTRATORS
Talking about the army and involving it in country’s inner political activities, Serzh Sargsyan said: “We have never used the army in politics, army has always been acting in line with the constitution. If you mean the present actions, then the state of emergency should be conducted by the army, thus everything corresponds to the constitution and army’s functions”.
“There was no order to disperse the demonstrators and what the police announces, what the chief prosecutor announces and what becomes clear after the investigation should be obvious for all of us. We do not intend to hide anything. Till this moment I’m sure that the police went there not to disperse but to check whether they had weapons. Because the police was not prepared we had tens of them injured,” said S. Sargsyan.
“It is not true that the demonstrators were offered to go to “Dinamo” or the square next to it. The police offered them to go to Matenadaran square, some of them agreed but the rest no, because Levon Ter-Petrosyan had also ordered to be based there, not continue the demonstration, but to get based. After that they made barricades with trolleybuses,” said S. Sargsyan.
The Prime Minister added, “Police was calling everybody not to make illegalityies, not to break the law, not to destroy others property, but it was useless. What could be done by the authorities, what could be done by the police officers? Did they have to leave the territory?”.
