NICE: ARONYAN LEADER
In the fifth round of “Rapid and Blindfold” chess international tournament Armenian GM, the champion of “Chorus Chess 2008” Levon Aronyan met with the Ukrainian Vasili Ivanchuk and now leads the competition. The game Aronyan-Ivanchuk finished in 1.5:0.5 scores and now Aronyan has 6.5 scores.
L. Aronyan finished in a draw with Ivanchuk by the black figures in “blindfold” chess and after won with the white figures in “rapid” chess. Hence after the fifth round Aronyan left behind Kramnik, Topalov, and Viswanathan Anand, Ivanchuk, Leko and Karlsen.
Note that “Amber Rapid and Blindfold” competition started on 15 March and will last till 27 March. It takes place in nice, France.
