ARONYAN LEADER IN AMBER
The Armenian GM and the champion of “Chorus Chess 2008” Levon Aronyan leads the international chess tournament “Amber” after the ninth round. Aronyan had a game with the Russian GM Alexander Morozevich. According to the official site of the tournament young Norwegian champion Magnus Karlsen had a game with Russian GM Vladimir Kramnik, first Karlsen led the game but finally it ended in a draw.
Thus Aronyan has 12.5 scores on his account and Karlsen is by 2.5 scores behind Armenian GM. Kramnik and Hungarian GM Peter Leko have 10 scores each after the ninth round. Ukrainian Vassili Ivanchuk and Bulgarian Vasselin Topalov have 9.5 scores; Indian Vishwanathan Anand has 9 scores; Alexander Morozevich has 8.5 scores; Ukrainian chess player Sergey Kariakin has 8 scores; Holland Ljuk Van Vellin- 7.5 scores; Israeli Boris Gelfand has 7 and Azeri Memadiarov- 6.5 scores.
Note that “Amber” international chess competition started on 15 March and will last till 27. It is held in Nice, France.
