“CHESS GIANTS YEREVAN 2008” STARTED
“Chess Giants Yerevan 2008” international competition started. Before the official opening of the competition the participants and the Prime Minister and the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Armenia visited the monument named after famous Armenian chess player Tigran Petrosyan and put a wreath commemorating him. After, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan greeted the guests and the participants of the competition.
Remind: nine chess players are taking part in the competition Gabriel Sargsyan, Alexander Morozevich, Bou Sian Chzin, Levon Aronyan, Vladimir Hakobyan, Peter Leco, Boris Gelfand, and Michael Adams. The referee of the competition is Ashot Vardanyan, who is high ranking FIDE international referee.
Today at 18:00 the competition starts. Every day two rounds will be held. The competition will last till 15 June. The total fund of the competition is 262 thousands dollars.
