“TURKISH MORE INTERESTED IN ARMENIANS”
“Turkish society did not know Armenians living by their neighborhood, but currently the situation is changed and Hrant Dink’s role is big enough. Hrant Dink used to have his own influence on people and after his death he still has that unique attitude towards him,” said Turkish lawyer Fetthie Chety, who wrote “My Grandmother” book, in National Library during a meeting with the journalists and library staff. According to him people started to be interested in Armenians, Armenians culture, they started reading books about Armenians history to get at least some information.
Currently 60 thousands Armenians live in Istanbul. “Today some are not afraid of knowing the truth, but still some are against any connection with Armenians because of their chauvinism,” said the writer.
According to him though majority in Turkey was not against the meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Turkey, but some were against that meeting.
