COMPREHENSIVE PROJECTS ON HIV/AIDS HELP TO PREVENT DISEASE
As the year is coming to its end, the AIDS prophylactic center presents some figures on HIV disease in Armenia. According to the director of the center Samvel Grigoryan in 2008 656 people suffered HIV and 13 of them were children under 15. AIDS rate is 284 in Armenia and 6 of them are children. 154 AIDS deaths have been registered within the year.
According to S. Grigoryan in 2007 HIV rate in the region was 110 thousands which is four times bigger than in Western European countries and twice bigger than in Northern America. The AIDS death rate in our region is 58 thousands which exceeds the AIDS death rate in Western European countries and Northern America.
It is known that within the previous 7 years the number of people suffering AIDS and HIV disease has been lowered, due to comprehensive projects on HIV/AIDS diseases.
