PRIME MINISTER TO MEET EBRD REPRESENTATIVES IN ARMENIA
Today the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan received the delegation of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), reported the public relations department of Government. The director of EBRD Armenia office Michael Weinstein was also in the EBRD delegation.
The Prime Minister says he is confident that this visit of the EBRD delegation will be a new impulse for the further reinforcement and deepening of our country’s cooperation with the Bank. Tigran Sargsyan noted that during previous years remarkable work has been done to create more effective cooperation, though there have been some problems with implementation of certain EBRD programs in our country.
Regarding the priorities of cooperation with Armenia, the Prime Minister especially signified providing support to the small and medium-sized enterprises, development of infrastructures, and contribution to the formation of free economic zones next to “Zvartnots” Airport and in Gyumri, development of the capital market.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan presented to the members of the EBRD Board of Directors the current state of Armenia’s economy and the programs for 2009, the measures our country prepares to meet the negative impact of the world financial crisis.
The members of the EBRD delegation expressed their positions and opinions on the issues discussed, spoke about the world financial and economic crisis, the Bank’s activity under the conditions of economic crisis, the approaches on resisting challenges.
