NUMBER OF CLAIMS FROM ARMENIA TO EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS REDUCED
In recent two years few applications from Armenia are sent to the European Court of Human Rights. The Judge of ECHR Alvina Gyulumyan explained to the journalists that it might be conditioned with the fact that more than 100 thousands applications are in the process currently.
“Armenia is a member country of Council of Europe for 7 years, but has recognized the authorities of the court since April 26, 2002. Since our membership to Council of Europe 1026 applications were sent and 600 of them were from citizens of Azerbaijan. These are people who were displaced from their houses under the authorization of NKR, they think that their rights have been violated,” said Alvina Gyulumyan.
Approximately 250 claims from Armenia have been rejected, said the judge and added that there are claims on post-electoral developments in Armenia.
