Together with the Constitutional changes in neighbor Azerbaijan it seems that any dissident activity is inflicted penalty. Azerbaijani day.az web site referring to the data published by state statistical committee of Azerbaijan covered the collapse of the country’s economy which became the reason to block the web site.

The web site covered late on 18 February that the statistical committee concluded the social-economic results of January 2009. According to that report the GDP of the country was 2 billion 306 million USD which compared with the same period of the previous year decreased by 2.6%.

The web site has also published some other results proving the collapse of the economy which was the last publication of the web site. Searching for the initial web site after 18:00 the demand says “Site is unavailable due to some problems. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

According to the experts the reason of blocking the web site is the above mentioned publication covering the real image of Azerbaijani economy. Note that the current publication is being referred by Russian sources, in particular “Regnum” and “Lenta.ru”.
