GRAND PRIX NALCHIK 2009 LAUNCHED: ARONIAN LEADS TOURNAMENT
FIDE Grand Prix tournament launched in Nalchik. After the first round Armenian GM Levon Aronian defeated his Azerbaijani rival Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and currently leads the tournament. Alexander Grishchuk follows Aronian; he played with white figures and defeated Boris Gelfand. Another Armenian GM Vladimir Hakopian received half point; his rival was Rustam Kasimdzhanov who presents Uzbekistan in the tournament.
