EDWARD NALBANDYAN SAYS INCOMPATIBLE STATEMENTS WILL NOT SOLVE PROBLEMS
The incompatible statements made by the Turkish party will not contribute to the regulation of the current conflict, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan said in a briefing after his meeting with his Arabic counterpart Abdallah Bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
“Problems are not solved out making incompatible statements. If they wish to solve problems through diplomatic tools, then we could negotiate and solve problems by the agreements made during those negotiations. I think that we have that opportunity regarding the Armenian-Turkish relations, and Armenia will keep fair to its efforts,” the Foreign Minister said.
Edward Nalbandyan has also commented on EU special representative Peter Semneby’s and U.S. Assistant State Secretary Philip Gordon’s statements claiming that Turkey has made a back-step in Armenian-Turkish relations and the Assistant Secretary saying that a committee should be formed which is supported by the U.S.
”Regarding the Turkish back-step, I want to believe that they won’t do that, and as I have already said we are ready to have ties without preconditions. We hope that Turkey will also keep that direction. Regarding the committee, we have been claiming that we are ready to regulate our ties, to create diplomatic relations to open the border. But to develop and improve those ties we are intended to form inter-governmental committee authorized to deal with various issues,” Edward Nalbandyan said.
