JERMUK 2009: 1 POINT LACKS ARONIAN TO REACH LEKO
In the sixth and seventh rounds of FIDE “Grand Prix” tournament Armenian GM Levon Aronian won 1 point. First he defeated Boris Gelfand with white figures and then has been defeated by Pavel Elianov with black figures.
The other Armenian Gm Vladimir Hakobian ended his sixth round in draw with Elianov and has been defeated by Sergey Karjakin in the seventh round.
Currently the ranking table is led by Peter Leko (5 points); Vassily Ivanchuk and Rustam Kasimjanov share 2-3 horizontals (4.5 points); Levon Aronian, Boris Gelfand, Sergey Karjakin, Yevgeni Alekseev and Pvel Elianov share 4-8 horizontals (4 points).
