Armenian and Turkish sport competition devoided of politics
We have already reported that during Bursa football match Armenia’s and Turkey’s Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Abdulah Gul were sitting next each other and talking about this or that football episode.
Armenia’s President congratulated his Turkish counterpart for each goal kicked. The game is a different topic having nothing to do with politics. Hence, Armenia’s and Turkey’s sport competition is not dictated by politics and supposes quite different logics. Of course, it has been a unique tool to normalize Armenian-Turkish ties and will be, by all means, recorded in the history as a match making two hostile states become closer. And this is the most significant point.
Armenian Serzh Sargsyan went to see Armenian footballers and to encourage them. After the football match Turkish fans threw pigeons which symbolize hailing of negotiations to normalize bilateral ties.
