Austro-Armenian Festival – Vienna greets Yerevan
The Austro-Armenian Music Festival “Vienna greets Yerevan” will be launched in Komitas Chamber Music Hall from 27 October to 1 November.
“This is an exclusive thing for Armenia – it’s a gift to Armenia from Austria, as it is by 100% supported by Austrian side,” pianist Armen Babakhanyan, one of the organizers of the festival told at news conference.
The mission of the festival is to make Austrian and Armenian musicians and composers to come together for a deeper mutual understanding of each others’ cultures as well as close cultural exchange.
Within the framework of the festival, a variety of musical styles and settings will be depicted. Next to the well-known “classics” 20th century works are offered. It is also with great pleasure that a series of compositions by contemporary Austrian and Armenian composers Balduin Sulzer, John Sarkissian, Rainer Bischof, Sebastian Themessl and Tigran Mansurjan are presented.
