Azerbaijan’s national football team’s victory over Lichtenstein (2:0) and successful game with Russia (1:1) are quite suspicious, Azerbaijan’s and Russia’s media outlets reported. It’s said that Azerbaijan’s national team is weaker than those of Lichtenstein and Russia.

musavat.com reports that Azerbaijan’s successful matches with Lichtenstein and Russia have been recorded thanks to money – bribery. One of the best players of Azerbaijan’s team told the media publication, without wanting to be identified, that the presidency of Azerbaijan’s Football Federation which is chaired by Azerbaijan’s state oil company (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullaev, promised 40 thousand manat to each footballer for their victory. After Azerbaijan-Lichtenstein match, which ended with Azerbaijan’s victory, the footballers received only 5 thousand each as the rest 35 thousand manat was given to the rival team for their defeat.

According to the same source, the match with Russian team was not as important as it was for Azerbaijan’s team, hence the match in Baku was also a result of secret business. It’s reported that AFFA president kept his deals with rival teams secret from Azerbaijan’s President.

Azerbaijan’s team performed terrible games and results at World Championship, and the country’s president Abdullah Gul was serious concerned with the team’s games and the money disposed from the state budget. It turns out that AFFA president wanted to escape from responsibility towards President Gul and he decided to solve that problem due to briberies and secret bargain.

After the match which ended 6:0 by Azerbaijan’s shameful defeat, Abdullaev’s son met with his loving football player and had photos with him.
