The official website of the Threatened Voices project issued information over the repressive measures implemented towards bloggers in different countries.

In the list of the countries, where bloggers are often arrested, killed or threatened, Azerbaijan ranks 7th, coming after China, Egypt, Iran, Tunis, Syria and Vietnam. It goes without saying, the list needs no comments.

According to the Protection of the Freedom of Speech in the Internet project representatives, the project focuses its activity on building a global anti-censorship network for bloggers and protecting the freedom of speech and free access to the on-line information.

Azerbaijan has assumed the ‘honored” position “due to” the repressive measures taken to three young Azerbaijani bloggers.

Ali Novruzov was detained in Baku for getting prepared to a planned youth demonstration. His personal blog is available In Mutatione Fortitudo, and he regularly makes posts for the British Frontline club   and Global Voices.

The case of the two other Azerbaijani bloggers Adnan Gadzhizade and Emina Milli deserved a wide public resonance worldwide.

Remind that Adnan Gadzhizade and Emina Milli were attacked by two young people of athelic build in a Baku “Lebanese” café on July 8. The bloggers suffered serious injuries and made a claim to the police over the incident. Investigator Ziya Aliyev, however strange it may seem, condemned the two for hooliganism and detained them.

The protest action against the Azerbaijani activities over detention of the bloggers charging them with hooliganism was under way worldwide. The Azerbaijani authorities continue ignoring the demands of the international organizations and official representatives over releasing the bloggers.
