Turkey’s PM Rejep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting with the US President Barack Obama and then answered to the reporters’ questions in John Hopkins University, “CNN Turk” reports. To the question what attitude the Turkish PM had over Obama’s statement that he hadn’t changed in opinion related to 1915 events, Erdogan answered that he had submitted message to Armenian side and recommended to form a committee to study the archive and other facts. “I think it can’t happen by lobbyist activities and words. My grand-grand-grand fathers haven’t committed genocide,” Erdogan said. It’s worth reminding that Turkish official historical chronology denied Armenian genocide and claims that Armenians had been displaced in the beginning of century. Turkish PM made his observations over resolution 301 of Turkish criminal code; stating whether the resolution doesn’t obstruct the formation of a committee. “I think those asking about 301 even don’t know what it says. That resolution is under the authorization and commitment of Justice Ministry. And procedure can be held only authorized by the Justice Ministry. The ministry authorized its commitment towards 8 people only,” Turkish PM said. It’s worth reminding that the resolution has been declared by the European Commission as a legislative norm limiting freedom of speech. Erdogan declared that Ankara’s waiting for the Minsk Group co-chairing states to quick the process, which, he said, could contribute to the normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties. “We are frankly interested in committing that process,” Erdogan said adding that 170 thousand Armenian currently live in Turkey, who are not citizens of Turkish Republic. Erdogan declared them being so generous allowing them to live in Turkey.
