Clinton, Erdoğan discuss Armenia-Turkey normalization process in Qatar
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the US–Islamic World Forum in Doha, Qatar, CnnTurk reported.
Clinton urged Erdoğan to reinforce sanctions against Iran over nuclear issue.
Among other issues like fight against terrorism, Cyprus, Middle East, Iran, and Iraq, the parties also discussed the Armenia-Turkey rapprochement process.
The meeting at “Four Seasons” Hotel lasted for an hour. The parties assessed their meeting as efficient.
Erdoğan spoke about the Armenian Constitutional Court ruling on the Armenia-Turkey Protocols, saying it slowed down the process and brought forth complications. Erdoğan said Ankara did all it was required to adding “Ankara considers the Armenia-Turkish normalization as part of a comprehensive settlement of issues in the South Caucasus. The OSCE Minsk Group should reinforce efforts towards the earliest solution.”
Clinton said Armenia-Turkey normalization process should continue, irrespective of any circumstances.
