Vancouver Winter Olympic bus driver dies on duty
A Vancouver Olympics bus driver, 71, died of a heart attack on Monday while driving along a highway, but a crash was avoided when a colleague on the same vehicle steered it to safety, a Games spokeswoman said, according to foreign media.
"It was a shuttle bus driver and there were five other drivers on board," games spokeswoman Renee Smith-Valade told reporters.
"One of them was able to pull it over to the shoulder of the highway."
The Province newspaper reported that the incident happened on Highway 1 near King Edward Street in Coquitlam east of Vancovuer about 4 a.m. PST.
