Public TV to screen 'Ordinary Genocide' film series part 2 February 28
The Public TV of Armenia will screen “Ordinary Genocide: Sumgayit, February, 1988” documentary on February 28, 22 years after Sumgayit pogroms in Azerbaijan. The audience will be presented the short version of the film, the full version will be shown late in March.
According to “Ordinary Genocide” series initiator Marina Grigoryan, the DVDs of the first film on Baku pogroms of 1990 have been distributed to the diplomatic representations, universities, analytical centers. The Armenian, Russian, English and French versions of the film are available at different websites. The film on Baku pogroms will be screened both in Armenia and abroad.
“Sumgayit picture is so horrible that even today, 22 years later, we don’t dare speak about the details of violations and brutalities of Sumgayit. We have prepared a film-condemnation. Condemnation of an offence to the humanity committed in the Soviet Azerbaijan February 27-29, 1988, which has received neither a legal or political appraisal by now,” M. Grigoryan said.
