Turkish deputy: There is no enough background for perception and implementation of democratic values in Turkey
The scandalous statement made by Turkish PM Erdogan over deporting Armenians continues to be condemned in Turkey. So did Turkey's Pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Istanbul deputy Ufuk Uras.
The deputy highlighted there is no enough background for perception and implementation of democratic values in Turkey yet, according to Turkish Cumhuriyet. He qualified Erdogan’s statement on deporting Armenians as a statement with the implication of resettlement made in the 21st century.
“When such a statement is made over the Turkish Emigrants living in Europe, it is called racism. Hence, any similar statements about people having the same status are unacceptable. Speaking about deportation should not be allowed in 2010.”
