Harutyun Khachatryan's "Border" wins another prize
In the frames of the International Film Festival under way in Fribourg, Switzerland March 13-20, the film “Border” by Armenian film director by Harutyun Khachatryan deserved another prize, this time that of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics).
The prize aims at spreading the art of cinema and promoting new age of cinema. "Our award-winning film combines elements of fiction and documentary. The main character finds herself in a no-man's-land, trapped between ruins in a storm of bombs where everybody attempts to survive as best as they can. She is one of the most expressive figures we have met this week - her passionate search for freedom is a perfect symbol for the absurdity of war and borders. Furthermore, she is a cow," FIPRESCI jury said on the film, according to Golden Apricot film festival website.
“Border” is a poetic drama about a cow crossing the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. With the latter being the main character, the film raises the conflicts existing between the two neighboring countries, the household of the border village and the religious and cultural aspects of every-day life. The director of “Border” suggests opening all kinds of borders.
