Clinton-Davutoglu 40-minute telconversation details
Hurriyet issued some details on Davutoglu - Clinton phone conversation they had on Sunday.
During the conversation, which lasted 40 minutes, the foreign-policy chiefs of the two countries discussed the Armenian Genocide Resolution passed by the US House Foreign Relations Committee and the Armenian-Turkish normalization process. Ahmet Davutoglu voiced hope that in his April 24th address the U.S. President Barack Obama would take into account the concerns of Turkey on this issue.
Davutoglu highlighted that the adoption of decisions by third countries, judging history, affects the Armenian-Turkish normalization process. According to the source, FM Davutoglu addressed a “message” to State Secretary Hillary Clinton.
“We expect the US, as a world power, to assume a stance not to alienate two states but to make them closer. We expressed our expectation before vote as well. The process, which will positively impact not only the relations between Turkey and Armenia, but also the situation in the Caucasus, should not fall victim to domestic political scores," said Ahmet Davutoglu.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry spread official message to confirm the information adding that the US State Secretary signified Turkey’s participation in the Nuclear Security Summit due in Washington April 12-13. Davutoglu said Turkey will inform about its final decision over it in the upcoming days.
