American film features Turks as barbarians
The Pacific, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s new ten-part WWII miniseries for HBO brought about a Turkish-American scandal. The film is due to be screened in Turkey April 18.
The film features the atrocities, robbery and mass killings, carried out by Turkish barbarians in Izmir. The film shows Pacific US Marines delivering payback for Pearl Harbor at WWII period.
The first three series of the film tell about Turkish bursting into Izmir in 1922 and destroying the city, robbing people, killing the local Greeks. Some manage to escape to Australia, Milliyet writes, quoting a hero telling the in an episode how they managed to escape in a ship.
Since the endorsement of the Armenian Genocide Resolution in the US, the episode has made even more people think about the issue, the paper says.
